In 1965, Ken and Marilyn RICH established HEATING CONTROLS Pty Ltd as an importer and distributor of heating equipment and control valves. Over the years the product range was expanded to include additional items of equipment allied to the Heating and Air Conditioning industry.

In 1985, HEATING CONTROLS Pty Ltd purchased the well known manufacturing Company, CROCKFORD & ROBERTSON Pty Ltd who had been a well-established company since 1948 and were identified as a leading manufacturers of Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning equipment.

In 1986, both companies relocated to new premises in Kilsyth, Victoria and a new identity, AIRA Pty Ltd, was formed to combine the marketing of the old companies.

AIRA Pty Ltd has since operated as sole National Distributor for products manufactured by Crockford & Robertson and taken over the role as importer and distributor of products previously handled by Heating Controls Pty Ltd. The product range now includes Boilers & Specialised Fluid Heating units as well as Specialised Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Heating and Air Conditioning Equipment.

A major part of the operations is the manufacture of boilers and fluid heaters for major gold mining companies around the world with units supplied to mine sites in Africa, Ghana, Russia, South America, Indonesia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua/New Guinea as well as many sites in Australia.

In 1995, the manufacturing operation for the well known AIRITE range of air conditioning equipment was purchased to further enhance the product range.

The product range was broadened further in September 1998 with the introduction of the AIRA range of domestic and small commercial split air conditioning units with exclusive fibreglass condensing units. This has now been broadened to include the manufacture of units by one of the largest OEM manufacturers in Thailand with full ISO & CE certification to the AIRITE design. This ensures that units are manufactured to the highest world standards.

Throughout Australia, main sales activities are based at the Head Office in Melbourne Victoria, with Branch Offices in Sydney, Adelaide and distributors in Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand.
